The Board of Trustees for Lake Wales Charter Schools, Inc. has the responsibility for setting policy, providing direction, and handling the business side of the enterprise.

Seat 1 – Candice Stepp
Candice Stepp is serving a one-year term on the Board as the non-voting teacher representative for 2011-2012. She grew up in this community, and graduated from Lake Wales High School in 2001. Ms. Stepp continued her education at Webber International University and Warner Southern University, graduating in 2004. She is working on a master’s degree in Education Leadership at University of South Florida and will graduate in December 2011. Teaching honors include being named 2007 Teacher of the Year by The American Institute for Chemical Engineers: Central Florida, and the LWHS Teacher of the Year 2009-2010. She currently serves as department heard of the LWHS Mathematics Department.
Seat 2 – Betty Wojcik
Betty Wojcik is the City’s appointed representative on the LWCS Board of Trustees. She grew up in Americus, Georgia, where she started her 35-year career in chamber of commerce and economic development management. She is a certified economic developer, who worked with communities in Georgia and Illinois before moving to Lake Wales in 2005, when she accepted the position of executive director of the Lake Wales Area Chamber of Commerce. She was elected to the Lake Wales City Commission in April 2011. She is a graduate of DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economic Development Management. Mrs. Wojcik has served as President of the Rotary Club of Lake Wales and on the board of Unity-in-Community, Lake Wales Main Street, and East Polk Committee of 100. She is a graduate of Leadership Lake Wales Class 10 and Leadership Polk Class III. Mrs. Wojcik and her husband, Bill, live in the Lake Ashton community. She has one son and three grandchildren who currently live in Tennessee.
Chair Cassandra L. Denmark – Seat 3
Cassandra Denmark is a graduate of the Philadelphia Institute with an AA in Business Management and Paralegal Studies. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 1995 with her BA in Criminology and from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School with her Juris Doctor honors cum laude in January 2002. Ms. Denmark received her Certified Public Manager certification from Florida State University in 2004. Ms. Denmark is senior partner in the Meeks & Denmark LLP law firm in Bartow. She previously served as the Director of Legal Affairs for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Her community activities include First Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, Board of Directors for the Lake Wales YMCA, Leadership Lake Wales, Roosevelt Alumni Green & Gold Foundation, Bartow Rotary Club, Kappa Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Lake Wales NAACP. She is affiliated with the Lakeland Bar Association, Florida Bar Voluntary Bar Liaison Committee, Willson American Inn of Court, Virgil D. Hawkins Bar Association, and the Florida Association of Police Attorneys.
Seat 4 – Danny Gill
Danny Gill is a native Floridian, raised in Lake Wales and a graduate of Lake Wales High School.  He graduated from Miami-Dade Community College with an Associate of Science degree in Mortuary Science. He also is a graduate of Webber International University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance. Mr. Gill is the General Manager and managing partner of Marion Nelson Funeral Home Inc. with offices in Lake Wales and Frostproof. He has served on many local boards, including Lake Wales Family YMCA, Lake Wales Little League, Lake Wales Amphitheatre, LWHS Athletic Booster Club, and LWHS SAC. Currently, Mr. Gill serves as chairman of the LWHS SAC. He is married to Lisa Gill, a native of Bartow and a LWHS graduate. They have two children, Aaron and Zach.
David Ullman – Seat 5
David Ullman is a graduate of Furman University where he received his BA in accounting and political science in 1980. Mr. Ullman received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law in 1982 and was admitted to the Florida Bar and American Bar Association in 1983. He received his CPA certificate from South Carolina in 1985 and his Florida CPA certificate in 1989. Mr. Ullman is a member of the Florida Institute of CPAs and the Polk County Chapter. Mr. Ulman currently serves as Director and Treasurer of the Polk Education Foundation; Vice-Chairman of the Lake Wales Charter Schools Foundation; and Polk Museum of Art Planned Giving Council. He also is a ruling Elder and past Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales; and member of the Lake Wales Parks Restoration Committee. Mr. Ulman is both a CPA and attorney, and has been practicing as an accountant for more than 25 years. He frequently speaks on estate and tax-planning issues. Mr. Ullman is a senior tax partner with Bunting, Tripp & Ingley, LLP in Lake Wales. He is married to June Carter Ullman, a native of Lake Wales. They have four children, all of whom attend or have attended schools in the Lake Wales Charter Schools system.
Seat 6 – Patrick Cain
Pat Cain was born and raised in Lake Wales and is a graduate of Lake Wales High School. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance. Mr. Cain is a Certified Financial Planner and is a member of the Leaders Council at Raymond James Financial Services, Inc of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is a citrus grower and has served on many local boards, including Lake Wales Family YMCA, Lake Wales Little League, Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce, Lake Wales Arts Council, Polk County Gator Club, Polk County Farm Bureau, Lake Wales Citrus Growers, Lake Wales Academic Booster Club, and Lake Wales Mainstreet. Currently Mr. Cain serves on the boards of the Lake Wales High School Alumni Association, the Lake Wales Charter School Foundation and Our Children’s Academy.
Vice Chair Keith Wadsworth – Seat 7
A native of Virginia, Keith Wadsworth received his B.A. in economics from Hampden-Sydney College and his law degree from Stetson University College of Law. At Stetson, he served as a Teaching Fellow, and was a member of the Stetson Law Review. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a trust officer for Wachovia Bank and Trust in North Carolina. Mr. Wadsworth is based in Peterson & Myers’ Lake Wales office, where his law practice includes estate planning, probate, real estate and taxation. He and his wife Angela Pulido (an attorney with Lilly, O’Toole & Brown) live in Lake Wales with their preschool-age son and their daughter, who is enrolled at Bok Academy. Mr. Wadsworth also serves on the boards of the Polk Museum of Art, the Lake Wales YMCA, and the Lake Wales Charter Schools Foundation.
Seat 8 – Dr. Terry Fasel
Terry Fasel grew up in Hobart, Indiana and completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) in speech and hearing therapy and special education. He completed the Doctorate in Education (EdD) from Argosy University in Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Fasel and his family (wife Dr. Linda Fasel, son Jeremy and daughter Sara Fasel Kane) moved to Lake Wales in 1984. He was a special education teacher and staffing specialist with the Polk County School Board. He also serves on the Our Children’s Academy board (chair 2010-11) and serves as president of The Florida Association of Colleges of Teacher Education and the Advisory Council of State Representatives of AACTE. He is currently the Director of Teacher Education at Warner University where he is also a Professor in the Teacher Education Department. He serves on the Polk Avenue Elementary SAC and served previously on the Hillcrest Elementary SAC.
General Counsel – Robin Gibson
Robin Gibson is a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Florida College of Law. He is the senior partner at the Gibson Law Firm. He is the former chairman of the Board of Regents, State University System of Florida; member of the Executive Committee, Education Excellence for Florida and principal author of Article IX, Section 7 amending the Florida Constitution to provide a governance system for the State University System; member of the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission of Florida; former general counsel to the Governor of Florida; and parent of four children who attended Lake Wales area schools. Mr. Gibson currently serves as chair of the Lake Wales Charter Schools Foundation; he also served on the LWCS Board of Trustees from the system’s inception in 2003 until June 2010.
