Lake Wales Highlander Band Camp starts soon

LAKE WALES – Summer vacation is already over for students in the Lake Wales Highlander Marching Band.

Scottish Camp began today (Monday, Aug. 2) and continues 8 a.m. – noon through Friday, Aug. 6.

Leadership Camp for key members of the Highlander Band will be 8 a.m. – noon Aug. 9-13.

A morning “Mini Camp” will be held 8 a.m. – noon Thursday, Aug. 12 and Friday, Aug. 13 for all new freshman Band members and returning sophomores.

The regular day-long Band Camp is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16 through Friday, Aug. 20 at the high school.  The Band Camp fee is $75.

“Each student should come prepared for heat, with the proper equipment,” said Timothy Bottoms, LWHS Director of Bands.

Students should bring water jugs or water bottles, which can be filled with drinking water on-site. Students should wear shorts and tennis shoes, and bring sunscreen. Students may wear hats if they choose. For the day-long band camp, students also should bring sack lunches.
